Fall Festival was held on 11th and 12th of October, this year. I found a You Tube video showing one of "danjiris" or festival floats.

Thank you very much for your wonderful message to KIFA and showing of huge numbers of pictures which you took during your stay in Japan. I can see how fun you have had! Though the time we had together was not long enough, we enjoyed being with you.
All of you are wonderful and I was especially impressed that your students were well-mannered.

*An SUMIE drawing artist and I are coming to Carmel in September to take part in the Carmel International Arts Festival. I hope I could see you then!

I feel comfortably to up the following article with permission of Mr. Norris, Carmel Mayor�s Office. It details minutely how Carmel Japanese Garden Project has been conceived and is now going on. It�s not only useful for us to cooperate but also helpful for us to understand the project. Besides, it might help trigger exchange of voices between Carmel and Kawachinagno.

The Japanese Inspired Garden project was initiated by Joyce Wozniak, a Carmel resident, garden enthusiast, and an official judge at midwest plant shows. The project was given a green light by Mayor Brainard in the autumn of 2006. A committee was formed with active members Joyce Wozniak, Kumiko �Kay� Brunson, Barb Moshier, Urban Foresters Scott Brewer and Daren Mindham, Becky Schmeising of the Parks Dept.,Mark Baumgart and Kristi Snyder of the Street Dept., and Darrell Norris of the Mayor�s Office.

Planning began with the initial design researched and created by Mark, Becky and Kristi. The accepted design includes several building phases. At this time, many trees have been added to the perimeter of the site in order to create a backdrop for the garden. Tree plantings also include Japanese maples and manicured evergreens in the peninsula area of the garden. The Carmel Street Dept. brought in and placed 40 boulders, donated by area builders and developers. Approximately 10 tons of decorative rock was brought in for pond edging, a large part of which was donated by Noblesville business Quality Stone. Bamboo, weeping grasses and evergreen shrubs have been planted among the decorative rock areas. The garden beds have been installed, by the Carmel Street Dept., and are ready for spring plantings. Area garden clubs are donating many of the plants, which include hostas, ferns, and peonies. Several natural limestone benches have been donated to the garden, by The Carmel Sister Cities, Inc., through Barb Mosier, and Kumiko Brunson; and, the Carmel Jr./Sr. High School Student Exchange Group. The benches will be installed this spring.

Future construction phases will include the planting of many more evergreen trees and flowering shrubs, a privacy buffer between the garden and south side business buildings, the installation of a stamped and stained concrete walkway through the garden, an entry gate, and garden sculptures, (lanterns and whooping cranes).

Representatives from our sister city, Kawachinagano, Osaka, Japan, have visited the garden site, and have shown much interest and enthusiasm in the garden

as they have also established an active Carmel Japanese Garden Committee to assist us with the development of this Japanese-style garden.

Tentative completion date is Autumn 2008.

Carmel Japanese Garden committee is preparing two limestone benches. They are among the elements including lantern to make up the garden.

The other day I visited Hekiunso located near Nanzenji in Kyoto. It's a beautiful garden built in early Showa by the founder of Nomura zaibatsu.　So-called pond-strolling garden is the typical one of modern times with large pond in the center. So magnificent is the view from the entrance with Mt. Nanzenji in background. We could see much sensibility at the teahouse on a boat floating in the pond and even at No stage next to the writing alcove commanding the panoramic view of the garden.[url]<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>[/url]

As of today you are one and only Carmel citizen who has written on this board. Don't worry. It's O.K. you write in English. Of course you are welcome in Japanese. But I prefer much more writers in English to less ones in Japanese.

"Plane" sounds the same as "plain". It's no wonder to mistake the meaning.

First of all, it was difficult for me to set up the profile.

And I clicked Carmel & KIFA Forum Index, not Carmel Bukai.
Then a sign appeared [b]Who is Online [/b] , it say ......... peach......
I clicked on peach with red color, I could see my coment at that time,
then it disappear.....??

So I think we need some trainning regarding to this board!
